Statement of intent feedback

WWW: You have a reasonably clear idea here in terms of atmosphere and mood but not in terms of how the two-minute video will play out. Similarly, you’ve picked out some aspects of media language you plan to use but some of it needs to be explained in more detail. You’ve also addressed audience pleasures which is good to see but make sure the audience meets the coursework brief.

 EBI:

  • Think about how your actual 2 minute video is going to play out – will it just be narrative or will you have performance/lip-syncing too? If it’s narrative, what will actually happen across the two minutes? What story will you tell?
  • For mise-en-scene, why does a hoodie connote low self-esteem? You need to explain your media language plans in more detail and make sure they communicate what you intend.
  • You are missing representations and stereotyping – this is a crucial part of the statement. What representation of men/women will you have in your video? What representation of mental health will appear in your video? What about race/ethnicity? How will you create these representations and what response do you want to get from your audience?
Check your target audience meets the audience specified in the brief – fans of the music genre you have chosen.
