The author introduces tattler as a magazine tailored towards particular people such the higher class

2) Now go to page 4 of the Media Pack. Focus on the print magazine (NOT tatler.com - the website). List the key demographic details: age, gender %, ABC1 % (social class), HHI (Household Income), % of those living in London and the South East. What do these demographic details suggest about the average Tattler reader?

3) Look at page 6. What do Tattler readers think about fashion? How much do they spend?

Posh Upper class,  Rich neighbourhoods,  Large Houses and  they spend a lot of money most likely more than the average person's wage.

The Special editions of tattler are travel, wedding, beauty & cosmetic Surgery, spa, watches/jewellery and a school guide.

Media language

1) What different examples of typography can you find on the cover of Tatler? What are the connotations of the serif and sans serif fonts?

I can see that on the cover lines they use sans serif  however they user serif  for their name because it's supposed to represent that tatler is a recognisable company

2) How do the cover lines appeal to the Tattler target audience?

They appeal to the audience by standing out in front of everything on the page so that the reader is more inclined to read them

3) What are the connotations of the Tatler colour scheme on this particular front cover?
the colour scheme suggests that its for people who love  being outside in parks or rich people with huge backyards

4) How is the central image designed to create interest in the magazine? Find three reasons for your answer. (E.g. the model, the mise-en-scene such as props, costume and make-up, body position, facial expression etc.)

Representations

1) What celebrities or famous people are mentioned on the cover? Why do you think Tatler put them on the cover?

Boris's brother (max) and Emma weymouth, I think that  they put them on the cover so that they can catch the targeted audiences attention

2) What do the cover lines suggest about the lifestyle of rich people in the UK?

Rich people can still do lots of things that the average person cant since they do not have the power or money

3) Looking at the image and cover lines together, what different groups of people are represented on the cover and how are they represented? (E.g. men/women/rich people/race & ethnicity etc.)

Rich white men and women are being represented as  powerful and worthy

4) Are there any stereotypes being reinforced or subverted? How? Why?

the stereotypes where black women cant be in power is being subverted. They are doing this by showing a powerful black woman highlighted on the front cover

Social and cultural context

1) What aspects of British life or people are NOT reflected in Tatler? (Watch the clip above again if you need help with this - the clue is in the title 'Posh People')

Tatler doesn't reflect any other aspects of British life other than Posh People. The do not have aspects of people living in a average flat or house in London or people in poverty or even athletes

2) Tatler runs special issues on holidays, spa breaks, cosmetic surgery, watches and jewellery and private schools. What does this suggest about the magazine's representation of life in Britain?

The magazine's representation of British life is that people are very rich, powerful and have a lot of land.
this would make us presume that covid restrictions aren't that big of a deal for British people which isn't a accurate representation as British people are very diverse.

3) What audience groups might be offended or insulted by the front cover of Tatler April 2017?

The audience groups that may be offended or insulted by the front cover of Tatler April 2017 is probably the people that can't afford what they are trying to show of to the country. The Tatler magazine only promote their brand to the wealthy and not letting the middle or lower class be able to take part in their opportunities might make them feel excluded or isolated from the rich. It takes away equality.

4) Find three other front covers for Tatler from different months. What issues, subjects or people are regularly featured in Tatler?
  • Wedding Guide -  largely aimed at the rich symbolising that the less fortunate can't afford anything from their guide and its not for them.
  • Beauty and Cosmetic Guide - Makes it seem like this is how everyone should be looking in order to fit the beauty standards which aren't how society should judge people.
  • Watches and Jewellery Guide- Full of all the expensive accessories that the rich are only able to access.
